The spa experience & branding is the key design consideration for the proposal. Experience and branding are what we believe can sell the project to the client.
Besides, the continuity of the master plans profoundly influence the building layout, especially at the podium level. The nodes from the master plan played a significant role in shaping the entry experience of the building—for example, the quadrable volume door for the retail entrance.
Again, the spine is also a critical element in the proposal. Thus the experience for guest to arrive is diverted from the spine then only the hotel/banquet lobby. The fog coming from the dark spa to the hotel drop-off (through the chimney) create the haziness view which aligns with the concept of LOST when you first drop at the hotel. Then, only the journey becomes more evident along the way.
The sense of SPA and wellness is not only stopped neither podium level nor facility floors, but it continues into individual hotel units where the Jacuzzi and shower facility is placed next to the balcony, where it acts as one of the key selling points for the hotel experience.
Last but not least, the proposal is about the experience of SPA and the spine of wellness for user experience. Proportional Architecture is one of the ideas to ensure numerical consistency in terms of design language from sizes, heights, volume, void, etc.
