University Teknologi Petronas (UTP) is an engineering-based university located at Tronoh, Perak, with a master planning compromises a “Star-Concept,” which the existing pavilion intersects to form a star shape encircle a central park. The beginning with the concept of “chemical bonding” as a fundamental of every element, as well as the primary identity of UTP – Petronas & Petroleum. The project is named “V-Bond.” The project emphasizes the integrative spaces, which enhance the interaction with students and connects them to nature with a canopy walk, and ground floor landscaping.
“V: Bond” modular is formed from a single module (elements) to the colonies (compound), then integrate with the landscape (mixture), and lastly, the existing building (action-reaction), to complete the overall concept as the innovative student hub for future UTP.
It was the very first competition that we enter as UM students during the final year of our degree study. The original campus master planning was done by Norman Foster & Partners and GDP Architect. We were shortlisted as one of the six finalists. Unfortunately, we are abroad and not able to attend the final presentation. However, we were glad that we had won the 4th place in the competition at the final stage.
